Laser peening is used for the nuclear power plant components in order to prevent SCC initiation. In that case, it is feared that the compressive residual stress decreases due to applied stresses during plant operation period. In this study, in order to evaluate the relaxation behavior of the compressive residual stress due to laser peening, laser peened test specimens of SUS316L and NCF600 were loaded and surface residual stresses were measured by X-ray diffraction method. In the results of this test, in the case of applying stress larger than 0.2% proof stress, it was confirmed that compressive residual stress remained and the effect of cyclic loading to the residual stress was small.
