The mechatronic machines in production lines often require the high speed and high accuracy of positioning. For the compatibility of the high speed and accuracy, the stiffness simulation is needed at the design stage. On the other hand, these machines are assembled by many parts and bolts. The comparative evaluation about three conventional FEM models of bolts was done, and the advantages and disadvantages of these FEM models were shown. Then, two new FEM models of bolts were devised and evaluated. These are expected to overcome the disadvantages of conventional FEM models. The effectiveness of these models is confirmed in the stiffness simulation of large structures assembled by bolts.
