To ensure safety against the explosion of compressor shell induced by detonation of flammable gass has been required in air-conditioning machine and the safe design technique is expected. In this study, the explosive strength property and deformation behavior of low carbon steel pipe used for compressor with high strain rate were examined as a preliminary study. The influence of the pressure buildup rate exerted on fracture mode was found.
