Abstract

In this paper, random field modeling of microscopic strength using peridynamics is discussed for strength estimation of unidirectional fiber reinforced composites. It is considered difficult to evaluate the randomness/uncertainty of complex damage and microstructure starting from the interface between the fiber and matrix from the viewpoint of mesh dependence in finite element analysis. Therefore, the strength evaluation of composites using peridynamics and the validity and effectiveness of random field modeling based on the evaluation and discuss its applicability to the strength estimation problem of fiber-reinforced composites.
