Abstract
Process planning parameters for turning operation are optimized by using GA. The results obtained by considering tool-wear and without considering the tool-wear are also compared. Machining time is considered as the objective function in this case. Constraints are machine power, allowable cutting force, maximum and minimum limits of feed rate, depth of cut. cutting speed. Machining time is minimized through a series of generations while some genetic operators are applied at each generation.
