CBN cutting tool is used for finish cutting of hardened steel widely. The chips expand and twist around the work or holder even though finish turning of hardened steels same with normal turning. And it induces unexpected stop of turning process and deterioration of surface roughness. At this paper, we tried to form the chip breaker on the top face of CBN segment in order to solve this problem. We analyzed the flow of chips, and optimized the angle of breaker wall and distance from cutting point to breaker wall. It was found that the round type wall can achieve constant breaker effect at various finish cutting oondition.
