Abstract
In this research, a contactless loading device that can excite the rotating spindle was utilized to measure the dynamic compliance of a spindle system. Direct compliance and cross compliance were measured for the spindle of a three-axis machining center, and the influence of the spindle rotation on the compliance was evaluated. The natural frequency shift and the change in damping were observed in both of direct and cross compliances.
