Fundamental characteristics of a developed sliding burnishing method with a DLC-coated carbide tool targeting an aluminum alloy for plastic injection molding were evaluated. The burnished surface roughness in cross feed direction of the burnishing tool was influenced by the cross feed rate of the burnishing tool, and the smooth surface approximately Ra = 0.02 μm can be achieved at cross feed rate Cf = 20 μm. The injection-molded product with superior surface integrity can be obtained by using the mold parts, which was burnished using five-axis machining center.
