Binderless PCBN is new PCBN material consists of only cBN, which is manufactured by newly developed high pressure and high temperature sintering process. We manufactured prototype endmill of binderless PCBN and conventional PCBN. Then we tested these tools in high-speed milling of Ni-base heat resistant alloy at Vc=300m/min. Binderless PCBN shows much smaller wear than conventional PCBN. It is presumed that the reason for that is the effect that cutting temperature of binderless PCBN is lower than one of conventional PCBN.
