Composite material of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) and platinum group element is expected to be applied to hydrogen storage material, fuel cell electrode, and the other devices. As for the synthesis of metal containing SWCNT, direct synthesis is considered to be superior to the present method of post treatment of doping to SWCNT. In this study, using methane as carbon source of CCVD method, the direct synthesis of SWCNT containing platinum group element has been studied. Referring to the results of energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and the other results, the containing nanoparticles of platinum group elements was confirmed.
