Abstract
Bone-conduction hearing aids have better sound quality and higher sound pressure than air-conduction hearing aids. In this study, a new subcutaneously implanted bone-conduction hearing aid is proposed and evaluated. A vibrator of the hearing aid is composed of giant magnetostrictive material (GMM). The vibrator is implanted into the temporal bone of patients with hearing loss and generates the bone conduction sound. In this study, the vibrator was implanted into the temporal bone of the cadavers and its fundamental properties were examined. Nano order vibration generated on the skull was measured by a 3D scanning vibrometer.
