Abstract
Implantable artificial kidney can drastically improve the quality of life of the renal disease patients. In previous study, our group developed a multi-layered micro dialysis device which is composed of micro stainless steel channels and nano-porous PES membranes. In this study, we investigate the relation between the shape of channels and biofouling to provide long-term performance. And we evaluate the aged deterioration of the channel's surface for 1 week using human whole blood in reflux system. The result of this experiment indicated the relation between radius of curvature and biofouling. To optimize the shape of channels is crucial in order to implant this device in medium-sized animal in near future.
