This paper describes the performance evaluation method by using energy balance equation for anti-seismic structure. In Japan, many types of anti-seismic structure and system such as typical rigid structure, seismic isolation, vibration control and so on have been proposed and applied to actual structures. However it is difficult to evaluate their anti-seismic performance uniformly because of difference of the principle of the operation. In this study, energy balance equation that is lately focused on in architecture field is utilized to solve this problem. The main feature of the energy balance equation is that explains accumulated information of the motion. Therefore energy balance can evaluate the response reduction ability, the damping performance and so on comprehensively. First of this paper, energy balance equations of isolation and vibration control structure are led from those equations of motion. Also consumption energy by isolation and vibration control device is derived. Then, behavior of energy of anti-seismic structure is investigated by numerical analysis. As a result, application of energy balance equation to anti-seismic structure is achieved, and the effectiveness of isolation and vibration control device can be confirmed by comparison of consumption energy by object structure.
