Everybody unfortunately knows the destructive side of explosions and the detrimental effects of shock waves, mostly generated by detonation of high explosives or high velocity collision. Less common to us are the positive effects of explosions. Disintegration of large rock in mining industry or coal mining has been known for more than a century. But in the last 5 decades real constructive procedures have been developed and are still matter of severe research activities.
