Effect of surface treatment for fibers on mechanical properties of bamboo fibers and bamboo fiber reinforced biodegradable plastic composites were investigated. The tensile strength of bamboo fiber increased from 16% to 29% by carrying out a surface treatment on fibers. However, remarkable improvement of strength in composites could not be confirmed because of decrease the bonding capacity between fibers and biodegradable plastic materials by giving surface treatment for fibers.
