Abstract
In braided fabric, all fiber bundles are continuously oriented, and the angle of the fiber bundle to the longitudinal direction can be adjusted freely. Therefore, the mechanical properties can be variously designed according to the requirement. The purpose of this study is to clarify the static and dynamic mechanical properties for carbon fiber braided composite tube. Carbon fiber reinforced braided composite tubes, with fiber bundle orientation angle (called "Braiding angle") of 30, 45, 60 degree, were fabricated. 4-point static bending test and 3-point impact bending test were performed for each specimen. After these testing, the cross-section along the braided fiber bundle of the composite was observed to clarify the fracture aspect of the specimens. The effect of the braiding angle on the fracture mechanism of the static bending test and the dynamic one were clarified.
