Abstract
Textile composites with knitted, woven and braided fabric have been used recently because of the high processability and the high mechanical properties. In particular, braided composite is suitable for continuous structural member with uniform cross-sectional shape like tube, rectangular, I, L structures and so on. In this composite, the excellent performance is expected since the fiber is continuously oriented along the longitudinal direction. In this study, I-shaped cross-sectional braided fabric and composite were fabricated. Using this specimen with glass and carbon fiber, the bending properties of each specimen were investigated. Furthermore, considering the result of bending test and observation, fiber hybrid specimen was designed using both carbon and glass fiber. By optimizing the placement of both fiber materials, the bending properties were improved.
