Porous aluminum is a multifunctional material with lightweight and high energy absorption properties. In this study, near-net-shape porous aluminum using die was fabricated by friction stir processing (FSP) route precursor method. Rectangular near-net-shape porous aluminum with a porosity of approximately 70%, which was light enough to float on water, was successfully fabricated at a holding temperature of 1003K and at a holding time of 15 min.
