Abstract
The method for evaluation of tooth surface geometry by vibration measurement is proposed. Synchronous averaging method is used to extract vibration signal attributed from driving and/or driven gear from each other. The averaged vibration signal is considered separately according to the sources of vibration. The information of cyclic undulation can be inversely assessed from non-meshing vibration components by applying frequency response function to the spectrum of averaged signal. The precision of this method is verified by comparison with the accurate tooth surface measurement results. This paper also shows the possibility of evaluation of tooth profile form from the vibration waveform of meshing component.
