According to the compatible high strength and low noise request of transmission gear, this paper proposed a new concept to design the helical gear with the teeth number as small as possible. As the result, the small teeth number can avoid many resonance noise peaks with high frequency and the bigger module can bring the gear with high strength and lightweight. Also, the exciting force of gear noise can be decreased by designing the gear with proper contact ratio and manufacturing the suitable ease off on the tooth flank. As practical application examples, several new mass-production transmissions with high torque and excellent silent behavior are developed by designing the transmission gear with small teeth number, proper contact ratio and suitable ease off of tooth flank.
