Abstract
This report shows that tooth surface shape along path of contact is closely related to gear whine noise. Designing tooth surface shape along path of contact can reach an appropriate tooth surface shape to reduce gear whine noise. Especially, crowning along path of contact is one of the most important factors to design tooth surface shape. In addition, this report shows an evaluation method of tooth surface shape on plane of action and along path of contact, and some important factors of tooth surface shape that are closely related to gear whine noise.
