Abstract
A Micro-Gear with a module of 0.04mm made out of Ni-based Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG) was successfully completed basing on high-precision die-casting technologies. The Micro-Gear made out of Ni-base BMG has been assembled into 2.4mm diameter Planetary Gear-Head, attached onto a 2.0mm brushless DC Motor and operational life test at 0.1 mNm load has been performed. Result of the test, the Micro-Gear made out of Ni-based BMG showed 1/4 level in wearing compared with a conventional steel gear. From the result, a Micro-Gear made out of Ni-base BMG has been strongly acknowledged as making geared motor life much longer.
