Abstract
Direct observation of rolling contact edge with plastic deformation due to high contact pressure is carried out by EHL oil film optical interference fringes testing machine. The position with the thinnest oil film thickness moves from an end of form to an inner side with increase of plastic deformation. This result supports the actual phenomenon in which the rolling fatigue pit on a contact end is not generated at the real end.
