Abstract
Industrial robots with high performance have been developed and introduced to manufacturing processes. They have taken hard work away from labors. When industrial robots are operated for a new work, an operator must make an operation program for them on an actual manufacturing line. Teaching technique is utilized for making it, but it takes a lot of time and cost. A new method to make a robot program using virtual reality techniques off a manufacturing line is proposed, but it has difficultly of robot operations in a virtual space because of bad man-machine interfaces using a computer mouse and keyboard. In this paper, to overcome the drawbacks of current robot teaching off-line, a robot teaching system using virtual reality devices, which enable an operator to realize intuitive 3D-operation of virtual robots, is proposed and developed.
