Abstract
The objective of this research is to realize a small batch size production like customised gadgets. Agile provision of high-quality parts is an essential technology for small batch size production. Because only few repetition is expected in small batch size parts fabrication, machining operation would be executed by trial and error. An interactive machining system is proposed to support human operators in trial and error situation. The system is based on the distributed problem solving technique. The operator can reconfigure the planning objectives and planning strategies. Prototype system of the operation planning for interactive machining is developed. A example problem for operation planner reconfiguration is also demonstrated in this paper.
