Abstract
To survive in recent severe competitions, manufacturers are facing a lot of problems, such as shortening lead time, cutting indirect cost and so on. Variety of study on scheduling method has been proposed to solve these problems. In most of the studies, time and quantity based criteria, such as lead time, number of tardiness, inventory level and so on, are applied for evaluating their performance. Product cost is important criterion form economical aspect, however, it is rarely applied in the studies. In this study, we propose a cost oriented scheduling method and its characteristics are investigated through experiments with a distributed virtual factory.
