Abstract
Manufacturing-support Data Center Services using Internet, called RFM (Remote Factory Management is presented. The concept deploys not only maintenance services but also consulting services with inter-enterprise collaboration by engineering companies and machine tool vendors for multi-vendor s manufacturing systems. Major key issues are 1) FDC; introduction of Factory Data Center Services providing reliable network infrastructure and related platform functions 2)FDML; a versatile XML like language effective in describing field operating devices as well as machine status, 3)ASP; user oriented application service concept utilizing broadband network. Results obtained in the RFM trial using FDC, FDML and the related technologies has been performed.
