Abstract
This paper discusses a manufacturing support system, which contains not only maintenance services but also consulting services with inter-enterprise collaboration by engineering companies and machine tool vendors for multi-vendor's manufacturing systems. The support system is called ASSIST (After Sales Support Inter-enterprise collaboration System using information Technologies). On the other hand, standardization technologies such as FDML (Field Data Markup Language) and FDC (Factory Data Center) for remote factory management services are discussed by standardization activities. Therefore, a prototype system of FDML application to make ASSIST comply with the standard specifications has been developed. This paper describes a concept of the ASSIST, the FDML application and a development of a prototype system of the ASSIST using the FDML application.
