Abstract
Vehicle body structure optimization system taking advantage of multidisciplinary design optimization technology was developed. This system was built with the combination of DOE and approximation model, and able to predict optimal thickness and material for lightweight body subjected to stiffness and crashworthiness. Accuracy of the approximation model is a key of optimization including multi crash analyses. In this paper, two key factors for accuracy were identified and approximation model was improved to provide sufficient accuracy for practical usage. The capability verification of this system was done with car body structure. As a result, it was able to be confirmed that this system was useful for the weight-saving study.
