Abstract
Water Jet Peening (WJP) is an effective technique for reducing tensile residual stress and for preventing stress corrosion cracking of nuclear power plants. While direct injection water jets are usually used in WJP, we found that reflected water jets and circulated water jets are also available to reduce the tensile stresses generated in the components located at complicated structures used in reactor pressure vessels.
