At the C0P3 conference in Kyoto in 1997, with the problem of global warming as a background, Japan set a target of reducing carbon dioxide and other gaseous emissions by 6% between 2008 and 2012 relative to the 'standard' year of 1990. To achieve this goal, the positive utilization of renewable energy is necessary. In this study, a co-generation system incorporating a wood pellet fired Stirling engine has been constructed for use in ordinary residential homes in cold regions, and its performance is examined experimentally. Especially, the performance of the engine that is used in the experiments is 1.84kW in terms of electrical power, is examined experimentally and theoretically. So, the generation of electrical power has been confirmed at between 1 and 3kW.
