This paper refers to the experimental results of power generation performance of direct ethanol fuel cell, which employs the composite anode catalysts such as Pt-SnO2 and Pt-Rh. The operating temperature was set at 25OC. The mass ratios of Pt:SnO2 (or Rh) were adjusted at 9:1, 1:1 and 3:1. The ethanol concentrations were set at 1.1M, 3.3M and 5.4M. It was found that the adequate mass ratio was 3:1 and the proper ethanol concentration was 1.1M. The addition of SnO2 and Rh was effective for the improvement of power generation performance. However, the effectiveness of SnO2 and Rh on the power generation performance was lower than that of Ru. Based on the results of cyclic voltammetry, the voltammogram of Pt-SnO2 was almost same as that of Pt, but different from that of Pt-Ru. It was suggested that the pathways of the ethanol electrochemical oxidation on Pt-SnO2 was different from those on Pt-Ru.
