Abstract
Natural convection of stratified two liquid layers in an enclosure with heated and cooled from the opposing vertical walls was investigated experimentally and numerically. The experiments were carried out for stratified two liquid layers of water-silicone oil systems at the same volumetric ratio of each liquid. Various combinations of liquids with different kinematic viscosities were investigated. The velocity was measured by a PIV system. Simulated velocity profiles agreed with that obtained experimentally. It was shown that the change of viscosity of top fluid had little effect on velocity profiles in the bottom layer.
