Abstract
A numerical study by using galerkin finite element method has been done on a double diffusive natural convection in a circular cavity that at first had been stratified under stably linear concentration condition. Comprehensive systematically organized numerical solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations under Boussinesq flow assumption have been acquired In each case the evolutions of stream function, temperature and concentration fields are shown. Computations are carried out for saline. The effect of variation of Rayleigh number in the flow patterns when other non-dimensional numbers are constant is shown. Also another case in which the entire periphery of cavity is heated by a constant heat flux is discussed.
