Flow boiling heat transfer coefficients and frictional pressure drop gradients of R123 inside a spiral grooved steel tube are measured and compared with some available correlations. The frictional pressured drop gradients are correlated within approximate 30% accuracy using the Murata and the Kido-Uehara correlations. Also the homogeneous model with the simple liquid viscosity and the Carnavos equation predicts well the data in the annular flow regime. Many of the estimated heat transfer coefficients by the Momoki correlation are much higher than the measured values. The Murata correlation for the heat transfer coefficient predicts well the experimental data in the region where the forced convection is dominant.
