From forming the dioxin in the ash in the waste incineration, they worry about the generation of the dioxines in the particulate matter in diesel exhaust gas. It is a purpose of this experimental research to clarify whether dioxines exist in the particulate matter in diesel exhaust emission. In the first experiment, dioxines are measured in the particulate matter under chloride concentration level which is included in the waste incineration. The high-dense dioxines which were equivalent to the waste incinerator level were detected. It is meant that the diesel combustion process has the ability equal to the process in the waste incinerator on the dioxin generation. In the second experiment, dioxines were measured under the condition of chloride concentration level equal to sodium chloride which is included in the atmosphere which derives from the ocean. In this experiment, the concentration near the detection limit of dioxines was measured. In conclusion, though dioxines are formed, when the chlorine exists in the diesel engine, in the condition of the chloride concentration in present combustion chamber, the effect of the dioxins on the whole discharge is not serious.
