Abstract
Wheelchairs are widely used in hospitals, welfare facilities, etc. Healthcare staffs help to use these wheelchairs if the users need their assistance. Autonomous traveling capability of the wheelchairs is important to reduce the physical labaor of these staffs and also to promote the indepencence of the wheelchair users. In this report we propose to use RFID landmarks for the autonomous traveling of the wheelchair. Basic investigation of RFID detection for localization, designing of RFID landmarks and the performance of autonomous traveling experiment are reported.
