Abstract
Measurement of the multiple environments using functional gel-tools was developed. We fabricated multiple measurement gel-tools by binding gel-tools impregnated different indicators. We used gel-tools impregnated with Bromothymol blue (BTB), Bromocresol green (BCG), and Rhodamine B. BTB and BCG are pH indicators with the different indicator range. Rhodamine B is used for temperature measurement. The gel-tool is made of hydrophilic photo-crosslinkable resin of which the primary constituent is polyethylene glycol. A solution mixed with photo-resin, indicators, high concentrations of an electrolytic solution are stirred, and gel-tools impregnated with indicators are obtained. Gel-tools are cured by UV-ray and bind each gel-tool. We can measure pH value locally from the color of gel-tool using calibrated color information in YCrCb color space. We also calibrate the temperature from the fluorescent intensity. We succeeded in fabricating gel-tool and measuring pH and temperature in a microchip.
