Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a flying robot with wings capable of hovering, and the goal of this paper is to clarify wing beat frequency and electric power necessary for the robot to float. We chose a radio controlled flapping plane as a robot. First, we measured speeds of an air flow around the wing. The speed of behind the wing is as almost two times fast as that of front. Then the plane was set up vertically. We increased wing beat frequency by increasing the power and change its weight by adding a weight to the robot or increasing a counter weight. Wing beat frequency and power to satisfy the float conditions that we set were measured. We confirmed that both of them are in proportion to mass of the plane.
