Abstract
This paper presents an artificial muscle, which is composed of ECF-jet driven micro cells. This artificial muscle can arbitrarily specify the contraction length and force by changing the number of integrated cells. The cell consists of a jet generator, a shrinkage part, and a tank. The size of the micro cell is φ12.5mm x 13mm. With serial connection of cells, the total contraction length may be the sum of each cell's contraction and the force may be the average of each force. On the other hand, with parallel connection, the contraction length may be the average of each cell's contraction and the force may be the sum of each force. The maximum contraction and force of the cell integrated ECF artificial muscle (2x2) are 2.80mm and 504.1mN, respectively, at an applied voltage of 8kV.
