Abstract
We have developed a one hand drive wheelchair with some assist functions generated by new manipulation mechanism and assist units. In previous researches, the manipulation mechanism yields heavy running resistance. The purpose of this paper is to improve the transfer mechanism and detection method for manipulation torque. Results of experiment, using a prototype, show the validity of improvements.
