Abstract
This paper proposes a motion control method for a smart electric wheelchair with a hands-free manipulation interface that applies bio-potential signals. Based on EMG and EOG obtained from brain-computer interface, the system recognizes simple gestures; jaw close, wrinkle, and look left and right. By combining these gestures we control linear/turning motion, velocity and steering angle of the wheelchair. Experimental results confirm the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
