Abstract
The authors aim at development of a portable equipment and data processing software for forest measurements. It will contribute to introduction of IT into that field where manual measurements have been carried out so far. The authors set up experimental equipment which contains a small-sized laser scanner. By rotating the scanner at each measurement location, 3D point clouds are obtained and the data will be processed to reconstruct 3D map and extract parameters for forest maintenance.
