Abstract
The purpose of this paper is the development and the improvement of a control program to play the real saxophone through a Saxophone Playing Robot by MIDI input devices. We use synthesizers such as the wind synthesizer, WX5(YAMAHA product) or a MIDI keyboard as input and control devices for a human player. The program analyzes the input signals from WX5 and then transforms them to the commands of controlling the saxophone robot. The signals consist of note selection, lip pressing force and air velocity as computer inputs. The commands sent to the robot are artificial lip pressing force, air pressure and fingering commands. By the program, it becomes possible to play the real saxophone through any MIDI input devices.
