Abstract
It is desirable to seal a waterproof vessel with a electric motor same as a propeller thruster and to transmit power by magnet coupling if drive the joint of underwater manipulator by electric motor. We have been developing a joint for underwater manipulator using magnet coupling by neodymium magnet that is the strongest in permanent magnets. In this paper, we explain the structure and the basic characteristics of the prototype joint for underwater manipulator.
