Abstract
We have been developing the lightweight and cheap three-dimensional archiving equipment and its software for measuring the volume of a steel scrap. This equipment consists of a laser range sensor, a pan-tilt stand, and a web camera, and could scan three-dimensional geometry by controlling these three elements by a notebook PC, and calculate volume form the scan of data. By using this equipment, dangerous steel scrap measurement work in steelworks can be done in a safe and simple thing at low cost. In addition, it also becomes possible to save the data which visualized the result of measurement.
