Abstract
We developed a mechatronic-system-embedded 'tsumiki' (building blocks) toy that inter- acts with players' manipulations such as assembling, building, stacking, lining, or handling. Behavior of the 'tsumiki' block changes based on the embedded mechatronic system including PIC processor, CdS brightness sensor, tilt switch, magnetic seonsr, and LEDs. In the first prototype, the cavity to store the mechatronics system in the 'tsumiki' block was so complicated because it was designed according to the shape of the mechatronic system strictly. This made lengthened the fablication time, and reduced extand-ability of the mechatronic system. In the present works, we attempted to generalize both external and internal 'tsumiki' parts. The cavity shape was simplified then the substrate for mechatronic system was designed based on the cavity shape. Then we obtained a series of generalized parts with the same function as the previous works. Finally, using these generalised parts, we developed new functional 'tsumiki' which sounds interacts with players' manipulations.
