Abstract
This paper proposes the evaluation method of deformability by measuring the extensibility of red blood cells. RBC has the shape of both concave disk whose 8-10 micrometers in diameter and thickness of the thinnest part are 1 micrometer. And it has very high transformation ability. By making RBC pass the microfluidic chip which has a narrow channel at fixed velocity, extensibility is measured with the original diameter and the length at narrow channel. Moreover high-throughput measurement is enabled by its automation. We actually experimented using the RBC of a healthy person and a patient, and it checked that deformability is measured by this method.
