Abstract
This paper examines the cause and removal of a sudden change in the input torque resulting from the size reduction of the 3D cam mechanism. When reducing the size of the 3D cam below 10[mm] diameters, a problem regarding a sudden change in the input torque of the system was found. Several possible causes were theorized like the material finishing, accuracy of assembly and differences in 3DCAD models. Results of the actual measurement show that the causes were accuracy of the assembly as well as processing of the solid model of the 3DCAD design. Details regarding the measurement method and results are presented.
