Abstract
The paper presents an approach for using cognitive EEG brain signals in order to activate safety measures of a tele-operated robot device when an error or unexpected event is perceived by the human operator. The approach detects a brain potential called error related negativity (ERN) that spontaneously occurs when an operator perceives an error made by the robot or when an unexpected event occurs. The operator is supposed to be wearing an EEG headset in the method. By detecting ERN of the operator, the method activates robot's safety measures such as an emergency stop action for mobile navigation with unexpected events.
